Free Smart Driver classes planned for veterans
WORTHINGTON — To honor veterans for their past service, the Minnesota State AARP will be offering free Smart Driver classes during November.
Spouses who attend with their veterans will be required to pay the regular registration fees. Participating veterans will be required to pay a $2 facility charge and they must present an active military duty ID, a VFW or American Legion membership card, a DAV or a VA card at check-in.
An eight-hour beginning class will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 10. Four-hour refresher classes will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 16, noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 29 and 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 30. All classes will be held at the West Learning Center (old West Elementary School).
On completing a class, a certificate will be issued to each participant that will entitle that person who is 55 or older to receive at least a 10 percent discount on their vehicle for the next three years.
To enroll in a class, call Worthington Community Education during regular business hours at 376-6105.
