Dayton announces back surgery, won’t attend Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener
LUVERNE — Gov. Mark Dayton will not be hunting in the eighth annual Minnesota Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener this Saturday in Luverne.
In fact, he won’t be in the southwest corner of the state at all.
Earlier today, the governor announced he will undergo another back surgery Friday morning. This is his third back surgery, and will include fusing several vertebrae in his lower back in hopes of improving leg strength and stability. He’s expected to spend several days in the hospital.
Dayton was anticipated to participate in several events surrounding the MNGPHO in Luverne Friday and Saturday. Those events will go on without him.
Dayton began the tradition of the MNGPHO during his first year as Minnesota’s governor.
